Little Tokyo on the Rhine River

Experience authentic Japanese culture in “Japan’s Capital on the Rhine”. In the third-largest Japanese community of Europe, Asian flair is in the air. Japanese supermarkets, book stores, restaurants and clothing stores line Immermannstraße and its lively neighbouring streets. The Japanese Garden in the Nordpark, the Ekō-Haus of Japanese Culture and the Buddhist temple are also worth a visit. If you haven’t gotten enough from all of that, you can also enjoy the finest sushi with views of the city skyline at DOX Restaurant.

Dusseldorf’s best Christmas market

During the Christmas season, the Sternchenmarkt am Stadtbrückchen bathes the inner courtyard of the Wilhem-Marx-House in a mystical light, offering its visitors plenty of attractions. Here you’ll find the prettiest mulled wine stand of all of Dusseldorf’s Christmas markets, classic treats like chestnuts and roasted almonds, as well as handicrafts and Christmas presents.

Open from 21 November until 23 December 2017, Sundays through Thursdays from 11am to 8pm and Fridays through Saturdays from 11am to 9pm.

Shopping tips for your city trip to Dusseldorf

The Königsallee, also lovingly called “Kö”, is arguably the most well-known shopping street in Dusseldorf. World-famous brands and renowned fashion designers are represented here and offer a luxurious shopping experience. For those who like it authentic, you’ll find the right spot close to Media Harbour. Lorettostraße represents a combination of traditions and modernity, offering quite a contrast to the chic Königsallee. Extraordinary stores, homey cafés, bars and restaurants invite you to browse and stay. Get inspired by more shopping tips for Dusseldorf.

Year-around skiing

As Germany’s first skiing hall, the Neuss skiing hall offers a winter sports paradise in the middle of the Rhineland. Beginners have the chance to partake of skiing and snowboarding classes. Along with the main piste, at a length of 300 metres, a smaller piste as well as two sled runs are offered.

Open Sundays through Thursdays from 9am to 10pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 10.30pm.
